About Angel River
Angel River began as a collaboration between husband and wife song-writing duo Simon Brenner and Cayte Cox, who began working with Daniel Arieleno in 2015. Together they have produced music that has been described as ‘neo soul’ with influences drawn from pop, soul, r&b, blues, gospel, jazz, and world music.
More than a band, Angel River is a meeting of cultures and ages.
‘We come from such different places and times and yet there is synergy in our souls’
Committed to a deeply collaborative ethos, Angel River regularly rehearse with a diverse group of young musicians, who variously bring jazz, funk, gospel, blues and soul to the sound: Angel River comprises an exciting fusion of musical styles.
In this spirit, Angel River create music that is positive and enriching in a world of conflict and complexity, set off by the 'soul soaring' vocals of Arieleno; a voice that has been described as extraordinary by everyone who has heard it.
Through their album Angels and Lovers, Angel River strive to connect with listeners; creating music that lifts and takes you on a journey. Their sound - a richly textured sonic landscape – has been carefully crafted by Brenner and Cox to allow Arieleno’s pure and inspiring vocals to take flight.
‘There's something very special about being at the beginning of something, and we think we are at the beginning of something very special.’
Angels and Lovers was produced by Simon and Laurence Clarke with two tracks recorded at The famous Church Studios in Crouch End.

Notes to Editors:
Arieleno discovered his voice when he joined a gospel choir in primary school. As Arieleno recalls, ‘the classroom was asked to individually take turns and sing a line from a song, everyone started to sing, and when it came to my turn I sang the line I was told to sing, and everyone suddenly gasped and stared at me in shock. I was so confused and asked "what?" And everyone told me I could sing!’
After this experience, Arieleno fell in love with singing. Inspired by the eclectic music collections of his parents’, neighbours and friends - anything from ABBA, All Saints, and Craig David, to Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, and Mary Mary – Arieleno practiced after school in the music class, and began producing and writing original songs. He went on to graduate from the Brit School before studying popular music at Goldsmiths University, and winning a Mobo Unsung Award in 2013.
Brenner was a founder member and original keyboard player for the legendary eighties band Talk Talk. He went on to pursue careers in Psychotherapy and Research whilst continuing to compose and create music all the while. Consequently, a huge backlog of material was produced, and in 2014 Brenner shifted his focus back to music, beginning to write and perform with his wife Cayte Cox.
